Some people may find this tedious and not important, however labelling up your moving boxes in the correct manner will save time and make the whole move more organised.
Make sure you use quality double walled boxes in the first place as single walled boxes can crush and are not suitable for stacking in the removal van. You can buy quality packing materials direct from the He-Van website by clicking this link. Order for pretty much anywhere in the UK, not just for Brighton where we are based.
Once you have taped up your boxes with normal or fragile tape, you should do the following to mark them up appropriately.
Write in marker pen only (dark coloured ink):
1) ‘The Room Type’. Example: bedroom 1, kitchen, hallway, dresser, cabinet contents etc
2) ‘Brief Contents’. Example: vases, glasses, mugs. toys, clothes etc
3) ‘Fragile’ or Not Fragile? Example: glasses, mugs, china, pictures, mirrors, bottles etc. Not everything should be marked fragile or we will not be able to load the van properly. Only label up proper fragile items as fragile.
4) ‘Top Box’. Example: if delicate items are in the box and should not have heavy items on top.
